Two dead after Fulton County Fire

CUBA, Ill. (WMBD) -- The Fulton County Coroner, Austin Rhodes, has identified two people who died after a structure fire Sunday.

Sawyer M. Brooks-Kirkpatrick, 4, and Margaret Brooks, 69, of Cuba were both pronounced dead at the scene, Rhodes said.

The Cuba Fire Department initially responded to the 23000 Block of North Cherokee Road for a fully involved residential fire with several people still inside. Fire crews saw that the house was fully involved when they arrived and worked to quickly extinguish the fire.

A forensic autopsy on both victims was completed in Peoria on Monday. The cause of death remains under investigation.

The cause of the fire also remains under investigation by the Illinois State Fire Marshals' Office.
