Most eligible Hoosiers should start receiving partial Supplement Nutrition Assistance Program benefits on Nov. 11, Gov. Mike Braun announced , though a timeline is yet unclear for a full restoration of benefits following the federal government shutdown.

Under the current partial formula, 4,000 SNAP households on the higher end of the income limit won't receive any benefits. This will change, however, once full funding is restored.

Hundreds of thousands of Hoosiers that use the benefit for groceries have been in limbo since Nov. 5 , when the first monthly allotment would have typically been dispersed. Amid the longest-running government shutdown in modern American history , this is the first time funding for the SNAP program has lapsed.
