WATERBURY, Conn. — A Waterbury man has died from his injuries after police said he was hit by an SUV Monday morning.

Police said the pedestrian, identified as Raul Natal Jr, 55 of Waterbury, was taken to a local hospital where he later died from his injuries.

The crash happened around 6 a.m. Monday. Police were called to the intersection of Highland Ave and West Main Street for a crash involving a pedestrian and an SUV.

According to police, the driver remained on scene and cooperated with police.

The crash happened about a block from Waterbury Hospital to the north and where Rt. 8 crosses over West Main St. to the east of the scene.

Police also said Waterbury Police Department’s Crash Reconstruction Unit (CRU) has taken over the investigation. This incident remains an active investiga
