MADISON (WKOW) -- Mayor Satya Rhodes-Conway has proposed an amendment to the 2026 budget aimed at keeping property tax increases at historically low levels.
If the Common Council passes the amendment, the average property tax bill in Madison would increase by $2.50 per month, or $30 annually. This would be the lowest tax rate in more than 40 years.
The amendment is co-sponsored by several city council leaders, including Council President Regina Vidaver and Council Vice President M.G.R. Govindarajan.
"Madison residents approved last year's referendum because they value the important services their city government provides. We have an obligation to respond to that support by limiting property tax increases and continually finding efficiencies, and we are doing that," Rhodes-Conway said in
