The state Department of Public Health has identified a possible public exposure to a person infected with the measles virus at a Spartanburg restaurant Nov. 2.

According to DPH, a person with infectious measles visited the Kanpai of Tokyo restaurant at 2300 Winchester Place in Spartanburg from 3 to 6 p.m. on Nov. 2.

The health agency is urging anyone who was present at the restaurant on that day and during those times to contact their health care provider, particularly if they do not have immunity or develop symptoms.

Those exposed should monitor for symptoms through Nov. 23. Symptoms typically begin seven to 12 days, but up to 21 days, after exposure. They include a cough, runny nose, red eyes, and a mild to moderate fever. After the initial symptoms, a rash typically appears, spreadin
