CARROLL COUNTY, Ill. — There was a road closure in Carroll County due to an accident.

Just before 2:15 p.m. on Monday, the Carroll County Sheriff's Office announced on Facebook that US-52/Route 64 between Benton Street and Vanbuskirk Road is temporarily closed for an accident.

The closure spans about 3.5 miles and is between Mt. Carroll and Lanark in central Carroll County.

The Carroll County Sheriff's Office advised drivers to use an alternate route and avoid the area.

There were no further updates.
