BANGOR -- The Bangor City Council has officially welcomed three new members and elected Councilor Susan Hawes as the city's new mayor.

Councilors-elect Daniel Carson, Susan Faloon and Angela Walker were officially sworn in Monday morning in council chambers. They were chosen from a pool of nine candidates.

"We have such diverse backgrounds and that is going to allow us to relate to the diverse population that we have in Bangor and I think that's really going to serve us well," said newly elected Bangor City Councilor, Susan Faloon.

During the meeting, the city council also voted to appoint longtime Councilor Susan Hawes as the new council chair.

Hawes, who has served as chair previously, is entering her 15th year on council.
