More than 100 firefighters battled a three-alarm fire at a historic building in the Hampden neighborhood on Monday.
Crews responded around 4:30 p.m. to the 3300 block of Keswick Road, where heavy smoke and flames were coming from the third-floor attic.
The building, built in 1899, used to house Baltimore's Northern Police District, but now houses a few small businesses.
Officials told people to avoid the area as crews work "diligently to contain the blaze and ensure the safety of all individuals involved."
Firefighters contained the fire to the third floor and attic while working to extinguish the remaining hotspots.
Baltimore City Fire spokesperson John Marsh credited firefighters for containing the fire to the main building and preventing it from spreading.
