In 2023, E.J. Lagasse reopened his father's namesake restaurant with a fresh concept and and new leadership.
The younger Lagasse was just 20 when he debuted the tasting-style menu at Emeril's in the Warehouse District, opened by celebrity chef Emeril Lagasse. And just two years later, E.J. earned two stars from the Michelin Guide , the youngest chef to gain such recognition. The 22-year-old also received the Young Chef Award in Michelin's inaugural American South guide that debuted Nov. 3.
In the days after his big wins, E.J. reflected on what the honors mean to him.
"We really do stand on the shoulders of the people before us," E.J. said. "My dad, you know, has taught me everything I know, and put me in the position to be able to learn from some of the best people around the world."
