AUSTIN, Texas — A student was arrested on Monday afternoon after bringing a gun to a South Austin school and getting into a fight, officials with Austin ISD said.

Austin police said officers responded to reports of gunfire near Crockett Early College High School around 1:30 p.m. No injuries were reported.

The school’s principal sent a letter to families praising those who alerted authorities and urging others to report suspicious activity.
