AUGUSTA, Ga. (WRDW/WAGT) - An Augusta lumber mill is closing by the end of the year, an action that will affect about 130 employees, according to the mill’s owner, West Fraser Timber Co.

“The closure of the Augusta lumber mill is a result of challenging lumber demand, and the loss of economically viable residual outlets, which combined has compromised the mill’s long-term viability,” the company said.
