Frederick is planning to place a new traffic signal at the intersection of Monocacy Boulevard and Laurel Wood Way in the northern part of the city near Md. 26.

The City Council on Thursday unanimously approved approximately $271,000 for the design of the signal and intersection with consulting firm Daft-McCune-Walker, which has an office in Frederick.
