NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - There’s a new push to help people who might be struggling to pay for a WeGo bus ride by temporarily suspending bus fare during the battle over SNAP benefits.
Metro Council member Tasha Ellis is calling for the WeGo board to host an emergency special meeting.

Ellis says the SNAP crisis is impacting 60,000 people in Davidson County. She says that some people on SNAP struggled and were unsuccessful at getting on WeGo’s free-transit initiative called a Journey Pass.
Ellis is calling for the WeGo board meeting to happen no later than Thursday.
