GREENVILLE COUNTY, S.C. —
As temperatures drop in the Carolinas, cold weather shelters are opening to offer a warm and safe place to sleep.
Jeremy Huff from Miracle Hill said, "And on these cold nights, it's a safety problem." Jessie added, "You'll hear some of our staff tell horrible stories of several years ago when people make the decision to try and stick it out and sleep outside and have frozen to death in the past."
Miracle Hill, with locations in Greenville, Spartanburg, and Gaffney, prepares to welcome guests when temperatures hit 40 degrees or below.
Miracle Hill has never had to turn anyone away due to capacity, even welcoming 140 people on their busiest night last season. The need for shelter is growing, with this year's Point in Time Count recording 1,764 people living wi
