OAKLAND COUNTY, MI – A 34-year-old Pontiac man died in a seven-vehicle crash on M-59 this morning, according to the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office.
The crash happened just before 6 a.m. on eastbound M-59 near Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard in Pontiac, according to a news release from the sheriff’s office.
The man, who was not named by authorities, was driving a 2011 Chevrolet Aveo eastbound. At the same time, a 20-year-old Waterford man was driving a 2015 Chevrolet Impala.
Both vehicles hit a patch of ice, ran off the left side of the road and hit the cable barrier, according to the release.
The Aveo bounced off the cable barrier and slid on its side into the middle lane of the road, where it was struck by a 2018 Ford F150 driven by an 18-year-old Oxford man.
