CHEYENNE — Around 100 Wyoming Marines, their families and friends filled the rotunda of the Wyoming State Capitol on Monday to mark the 250th birthday of the United States Marine Corps with a ceremony that is rich in tradition.
The celebration paid tribute to generations of Marines who have served the nation since the Corps’ founding in 1775, highlighting their service, sacrifice and the pride that unite them.
The celebration opened with an invocation by Shawn McKenney, Department of Wyoming Marine Corps League chaplain.
“Help us to embrace our responsibilities of the spirit of service, and inspire us to act with the purpose of commitment in all that we do,” McKenney said as part of the prayer. “Grant us the strength to uphold integrity and honor in our lives. Guide our hearts and minds
