ELIZABETH CITY, N.C. (WITN) - An Elizabeth City man will spend between 14 and 18 years in prison after pleading guilty to murdering an infant three years ago.

Today, 26-year-old Tommy Montez was convicted of second-degree murder and negligent child abuse inflicting serious bodily injury.

On November 20th, 2022, Elizabeth City police were called to investigate the death of an infant. He was identified as three-week-old Julius Saucedo of the 800 block of Greenleaf Street.

Montez is being held on a $400,000 secured bond.
