WASHINGTON (WBAY) - We continue to await votes in both chambers of Congress to reopen the government.

It comes after a deal was struck over the weekend between a group of bipartisan senators that would end the longest shutdown in American history, now stretching 41 days.

The Senate is taking up that legislation for a final vote sometime Monday evening.

This latest deal has the support of seven Democrats in the Senate who will cross party lines, along with one Democratic-aligned independent senator.

On Sunday night, the Senate advanced legislation in a 60-40 vote that would fund the government through this coming January.

The deal also includes three appropriations bills, that would provide funding for the next year, covering military construction and the Department of Veterans Affairs
