JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — In honor of Veterans Day, the Florida Department of Education announced its newest additions to the Purple Star Schools of Distinction list.

The designation was signed into law in 2021 to recognize schools that provide additional support, resources and services to students connected to the military, especially those who may have just transitioned schools.

In its inaugural year, there were just 124 schools recognized. Now, with the addition of 78 new schools in this cohort, there are 451.
