FARGO — A tally of Fargo school board votes in the first round of naming a new northside elementary school indicates there’s no early favorite.

Only one on a list of 29 names, Northside Elementary, received votes from three board members, while seven other names received votes from two board members and the remaining names received just one vote.

Board President Katie Christensen Mineer and Vice President Robin Nelson are clear, however, on one they will not support at the next meeting at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 12.

Dozens of people submitted the name Charlie Kirk Elementary to the district’s online portal as a nod to the conservative political activist who was fatally shot at a Utah university in September.
