President Donald Trump slammed a New York Times reporter on Monday during an interview on Fox News over a story the outlet ran about the president's thoughts on whether he will get into Heaven or not.

Trump joined Fox News host Laura Ingraham for a one-on-one interview on "The Ingraham Angle," where the two discussed Trump's ballroom, the government shutdown, and Trump's chances of getting into Heaven.

"I don’t think there’s anything going to get me in heaven," Trump told reporters on Air Force One in October. "I think I’m not maybe heaven-bound,” Trump said. “I’m not sure I’m going to be able to make heaven.”

New York Times reporter Peter Baker, who has covered both Trump administrations, wrote a story about Trump's comments. Baker argued that they raised questions about what Trump is thinking about in terms of mortality.

"A lot of Christians were sort of sad to hear that because Christ came to forgive our sins, and we as Christians believe that, so don't you believe that?" Ingraham asked.

"I was kidding!" Trump responded. "I was having fun. I don't know if I will or not, but The Times did a story, and they got this little guy named Peter Baker, who is the sycophant to [former President Barack] Obama. He wrote the Obama book like Obama was a good president. [Former President Joe] Biden was the worst, but Obama was top three or four."

"The Times does a front page story, saying 'Donald Trump is now questioning his life' or whatever," he added. "I was having fun."
