Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar had given information about the assembly bypolls on October 6.

By-elections for eight assembly seats across seven states will be held on 11 November, and the results will be declared on 14 November.

The by-elections will take place in Budgam and Nagrota (Jammu and Kashmir), Anta (Rajasthan), Ghatsila (ST) (Jharkhand), Jubilee Hills (Telangana), Tarn Taran (Punjab), Dampa (Mizoram), and Nuapada (Odisha).

In Jammu and Kashmir, the two assembly seats—Budgam and Nagrota—have been vacant since October 2024. Chief Minister Omar Abdullah had won from two constituencies. On 21 October 2024, he decided to retain the Ganderbal seat and vacated Budgam, leading to the by-election there.
