CABELL COUNTY, W.Va./BOYD COUNTY, Ky./LAWRENCE COUNTY, Ohio (WSAZ) – Emergency dispatchers in Cabell County are urging drivers to avoid the three bridges from the county into Lawrence County, Ohio, due to black ice.

Cabell County 911 sent out a CASS Alert around 7:30 p.m. Monday warning drivers about the West Huntington bridge, the downtown Huntington bridge (6 th Street bridge) and the East Huntington bridge into Proctorville.

“If you must travel, stay on the surface roads and take it slow,” the agency reported.

Similar issues were reported in the Ashland and Russell areas of Kentucky into Lawrence County where at least two crashes were reported on the 12 th Street bridge between Ashland and Lawrence County.

The issues were causing ripple effects on nearby highways.
