EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) -- The Salvation Army of El Paso took a huge step toward getting ready for serving up 800 meals on Thanksgiving.
Volunteers from Marathon Petroleum, Workforce Solutions Borderplex and Five Points Lions Club gathered to shred 80 smoked turkeys that were prepared over the weekend by Rollin' Smoke BBQ in Anthony, Texas.
Volunteers removed bones and shredded the smoked turkeys all in preparation for the big day.
The local Salvation Army is planning to serve 800 traditional Thanksgiving meals, including cranberries, stuffing, mashed potatoes, green beans, rolls, pie and soda.
The meals will be given to help families and individuals in need this holiday season.
Free meal tickets can be picked up at the front desk of the Salvation Army Family Center, 4300 E. Paisano Dr.
