FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) -- As groundwork ramps up for the 106th Central Valley Veterans Day parade, organizers are preparing to pivot off of one of the parade's most memorable moments.

Parade coordinators now say the government shutdown has caused the 144th Fighter Wing to stay grounded and miss it's previously scheduled flyover.

Other active duty military groups like the Air force Band, Air Force ROTC and military recruiting groups will also be forced to stay home.

But plans are still in place to kick the parade off with eyes to the skies, the Fresno County Sheriff's Office has committed to a ceremonial flyover, with other agencies also possibly joining the event.
