LINCOLN, Neb. —
The University of Nebraska-Lincoln released the final plan Monday for $27.5 million in budget cuts. The proposal includes eliminating four academic programs, including Earth and Atmospheric Sciences.
UNL Chancellor Rodney Bennett said each of the academic programs recommended for cuts fell below baseline standards in instruction and research. The budget plan also includes eliminating faculty positions through a voluntary incentive program. UNL says that will result in $5.5 million in savings.
"I do not take any of these decisions lightly," Bennett said in a message shared on the UNL website. "Each reduction carries with it the weight of personal impact on individual students, faculty and staff, whose contributions to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, matter regardless
