NEW MEXICO (KRQE) – New Mexico Attorney General Raúl Torrez is telling stores to stop selling unregulated hemp products. A Larry Barker investigation in March revealed some retailers are disguising bootleg marijuana in packaging that identifies the contents as hemp. While cannabis and hemp look similar, hemp is not psychoactive and won't get you high.
In a letter dated for Monday, AG Torrez said only licensed retailers can sell marijuana, and those selling hemp products containing more than .3% THC could be subject to civil or criminal action.
