Pingry is never a team to doubt itself, no matter what situation the Big Blue might find itself in.
That held true on Monday afternoon as top-seeded Pingry found itself in a tight game against fourth-seeded St. Joseph (Met.) in the NJSIAA South, Non-Public A semifinals.
Last year, Pingry dispatched St. Joseph (Met.) in this game 7-2, but the Falcons were a much different team this time around.
“We knew they were a strong team, but if we went 100 percent the whole game we were going to come out with the win,” Pingry’s Julian Lopez said.
Lopez scored his fourth goal of the game in the 77th minute to rally Pingry, ranked No. 4 in the NJ.com Top 20, to a 4-3 victory over No. 11 St. Joseph (Met.).
The win was the fourth-straight for the Big Blue, which advanced back to the South, Non-Publi
