CHIMACUM, Wash. — Chimacum High School's marching band will represent Washington state at the nation's Independence Day parade in Washington, D.C., on July 4, 2026.

The day will mark the 250th birthday celebration of the United States of America. The Chimacum Cowboys are the only high school band from Washington selected to participate in the semi-quincentennial event.

The surprise announcement came during the school's annual Veterans Day observance, transforming the assembly into a dual celebration honoring military service members and the band's historic achievement.
