WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - Tuesday is Veteran’s Day, time set aside each year to honor and recognize generations of men and women who’ve taken the oath to serve and protect the United States in the military armed forces. Ahead of Veteran’s Day, 12 News is highlighting the story of one U.S. Air Force veteran whose continued service extends beyond the battlefield.

Major Carolyn Gill spent more than two decades in the military, beginning in 1999 with her enlistment into the Air National Guard in Nebraska. Gill was a medic for about 10 years before, she said, she decided to change career fields, focusing on military intelligence. She and her husband relocated to the Wichita area while actively serving at McConnell Air Force Base.
