No Red Sox player has been named AL Rookie of the Year since 2007 when Dustin Pedroia won the award and that didn’t change this year.

Athletics first baseman Nick Kurtz was the unanimous winner of the award, named first on all 30 ballots in voting conducted by the Baseball Writers Association of America.

But two Red Sox weren’t far behind.

Outfielder Roman Anthony finished third - behind another member of the A’s, shortstop Jacob Wilson — and catcher Carlos Narvaez was sixth.

Anthony received three second-place votes and 15 third-place votes, getting named on a total of 28 of the 30 ballots. Meanwhile, Narvaez collected two third-place votes and was named on 12 ballots.
