With temperatures dipping into the 30s overnight, people in Marion County were preparing for the cold Monday.

Scott Meece told WESH 2 he's thankful for area shelters giving people a warm place to stay.

I'm glad they do have a shelter for people that are sleeping outside," Meece said. "Because it could have been me sleeping outside and I have health issues."

He's been staying at the shelter regularly. But Monday night, he was expecting it to be busier than most nights.

"It's going to be really packed due to the weather," he said.

It's not just the people preparing for the cold, but pets too.

At Marion County Animal Services, they put out a plea on social media for blankets ahead of a drop in temperature.

People delivered.

"We got some piles and piles of blankets," said director Kyra
