SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) - An incident in Ybor City, where a driver drove into a crowd outside a bar, claiming four lives, has ignited urgent calls for increased street safety and protection for residents and visitors.
The devastating event has prompted discussions about pedestrian safety in other Florida cities, including Sarasota, Venice, and Bradenton.
ABC7 talked to Robert Mayer who lives in downtown Sarasota. Mayer noting that while Sarasota sidewalks generally feel safe, especially during events like the Farmers Market, drivers from out of town can struggle. He was also surprised to hear about the crash.
