REYNOLDSBURG, Ohio — With eight Senate Democrats agreeing to vote with Republicans to end the government shutdown — without securing an extension for health care subsidies in the deal — Heather Graham said she woke up angry.
“Woke up pissed off and said, let's hold a protest,” said Graham, an uninsured Army veteran from Reynoldsburg.
Her message, she said, is aimed squarely at Senate Democrats: stand firm on health care.
“Absolutely, hold the line,” Graham said. “Health care is a human right. I believe that. I think most Americans agree. We elected our Senate to stand for us on those rights, and they have failed us today.”
Graham served in the U.S. Army but doesn’t have health insurance through the Department of Veterans Affairs.
