Toronto Blue Jays star Max Scherzer said in a recent interview that he considered retiring from the sport of baseball in the middle of the 2025 season.

Scherzer opted to sign a one-year, $15.5 million contract with the Blue Jays for the 2025 MLB season. However, after one start during the regular season, he was placed on the injured list with a thumb injury.

He ended up putting his head down and diligently working through his rehabilitation, eventually returning to the mound later in the season.

He struggled when coming back, leading him to get left off the NLDS roster, though he got a spot on the ALCS and World Series, pitching 14.1 innings with a 3.77 ERA.
