Adani Group on Tuesday announced its foray into the Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) sector through a 1126MW/3530 MWh project at Khavda in Gujarat, which, according to the company, is the largest BESS installation in India and one of the world’s largest single-location BESS deployments.
This BESS project, with a power capacity of 1126 MW and an energy capacity of 3530 MWh, will be commissioned by March 2026, the company stated in an official release. The businessline reported two weeks ago on Adani Group’s proposed plans for BESS systems, which the company said will be at an “unprecedented scale”. This project, involving the deployment of more than 700 BESS containers, is in advanced stages at Khavda, the world’s largest renewable energy plant.
