DENTON, Texas — Two months to the day after a gunman killed conservative activist Charlie Kirk on a college campus in Utah, the organization he founded hosted a special event on a college campus in Denton.

The University of North Texas’s chapter of Turning Point USA invited Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton to speak Monday night.

UNT has been the subject of an investigation by the Attorney General’s office.

Paxton’s office says a student was asked to leave a class when she complained about fellow students “cheering” the fatal shooting of conservative activist Charlie Kirk .

Paxton’s appearance drew security, with those who came to hear him speak going through metal detectors.

The crowd was not large enough to fill the auditorium at the UNT student union.
