DENHAM SPRINGS, La. (WAFB) - A major development is on the way to Denham Springs after the City Council approved plans Monday, Nov. 10, to build a new multi-million-dollar hotel and conference center.
The idea first began in 2024 when the city met with a developer who wanted to contribute more than 20 acres of property just off Interstate 12 on N. Range Avenue.
Mayor Gerard Landry said he recommended using the land for a project that could generate long-term sales tax revenue for the city, which led to the council’s vote.
The $45 million-plus project, which also includes infrastructure and road development, will be funded through a tax increment financing district, or TIF. That model allows sales tax dollars generated by the project to help pay for its construction.
