On Tuesday at 12:19 a.m. a winter weather advisory was issued by the National Weather Service in effect until 6 p.m. for Herkimer County.
"Snow accumulations between 2 and 6 inches. Winds gusting as high as 35 to 40 mph," can be expected according to the weather service. "Multiple lake effect snow bands will impact the area this morning through the afternoon with reduced visibilities and localized snow rates briefly a half an inch to an inch an hour. Gusty winds will produce blowing snow. Some of the narrow snow bands may impact Interstate 90 before the bands drift north in the late afternoon."
