Nonprofits, ministries respond to food needs

Nonprofit organizations and food pantries in Craven, Jones and Pamlico counties are working to make sure area residents have access to food following uncertainty due to the month-long government shutdown.

The shutdown lasted 40 days prior to the Senate taking the first steps Sunday night to reopen the government.
