An Australian influencer has been fined after lighting an illegal fire while visiting a popular Queensland tourist island.

The woman was fined $834 after posting a video last month showing a campfire on K’gari (Fraser Island), the state’s Department of Environment, Science and Innovation (DESI) said on Tuesday.

“Fires on K’gari are strictly prohibited unless they are lit in Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service (QPWS)-provided fire rings at the Dundubara and Waddy Point camping areas when a fire ban is not in place,” the department said.

A spokesperson told 7NEWS.com.au that “no fire” signs are displayed on the island, adding that “being unaware is no excuse”.
