The bravery of the Australian soldiers who fought along the infamous Kokoda Track during World War II was brought to life in a powerful film created by Year 5 and 6 students at Jannali East Public School in NSW.
The documentary, titled Kokoda: Footsteps of the Brave , stars 102-year-old Reg Chard, the last surviving veteran of the legendary campaign. The film premiered at a special Remembrance Day ceremony attended by representatives from the Australian Army and the NSW RSL.
The collaboration began purely by chance. The school's P&C had secured a grant for the students to visit the Kokoda Memorial Walkway. It was there that they met Reg, who volunteers as a tour guide.
