Torrent Power , Torrent Pharmaceuticals and Shalby Hospitals were among the six Gujarat-based companies who on Tuesday signed agreements to invest a total of ₹33,320 crore and generate more than 15000 new jobs in Chhattisgarh , a region that has been battling naxalism for decades.

In an investors’ summit organised by the Chhattisgarh government in Gujarat, Torrent Power emerged as the top investor promising to invest ₹22900 crore and generate 5000 jobs in the tribal-dominated state. The company proposed to set up a 1600 MW thermal power plant in the state. Torrent Pharmaceuticals too promised an investment of ₹200 crore for a pharmaceutical manufacturing facility.
