Along with many Western North Carolina schools, large stretches of the Blue Ridge Parkway are closed in the Tar Heel State due to inclement weather as of Monday, Nov. 10.

A freezing cold front in the eastern U.S. brought some of the coldest temperatures of the year to the Western North Carolina region, along with precipitation in many areas. These conditions have created icy roads, bringing closures to schools along with the parkway.
