( NewsNation ) — The House could take up a Senate-passed bill to reopen the federal government as soon as Wednesday, as severe air traffic control staffing shortages continue to ground and delay thousands of flights nationwide.
Now in its sixth week, the shutdown has strained major sectors. However, after a lengthy stalemate, the Senate voted 60-40 on Monday to pass a legislative package that would extend most current government funding through January and reinstate furloughed federal workers. The measure also funds food assistance and veterans benefits programs through September.
