CHICO — Stay busy, and do what you love.
Delbert Reimer, a 95-year-old Korean War veteran, offers this advice to today’s young folk.
“Just go after whatever you want to do,” Reimer said. “I had no problem with retirement, because I knew that I would keep busy, and I enjoyed it.”
Throughout his 95 years, Reimer, a recent widower and father of two, did indeed keep busy. For 20 years he owned and operated Longfellow Barber Shop in Chico. A true barber by trade, he closed the shop down when men’s hairstyles got longer and more styling was required. • A photo of Delbert Reimer taken during his military service in the early ’50s sits on display at Sycamore Glen Active Senior Community Monday, Nov. 10, 2025 in Chico, California.
