SPRINGFIELD, Neb. —
Springfield Platteview Community Schools honors Veterans Day through a "one-of-a-kind" experience that the community can take part in. A student-organized flag procession kicks the morning off, followed by the district's annual Veterans Day Program at Platteview High School.
KETV Newswatch 7's Anna Behning joined students in the Wild Willy's parking lot in Springfield as they got their trucks ready for the procession, hanging American flags.
Cameron Ryba, a junior at Platteview High School, organized this year's festivities. He said, "It's always been my favorite day." Calling it an "unforgettable experience."
The procession tradition started nearly 6 years ago and has been carried on ever since by current students. The Veteran's Day program began 25 years ago.
