Speaker Mike Johnson told lawmakers to return to Washington, D.C. immediately to avoid travel issues as flights have been canceled or delayed nationwide due to the lack of airport staff caused by the shutdown. The House of Representatives hasn't voted on legislation since September 19, when it narrowly approved a measure that would have funded the government through November 21, which was blocked 14 times by Senate Democrats prior to eight agreeing to advance revised legislation on Sunday (November 9).
