Tuesday, Nov. 11, is Veterans Day , a federal holiday honoring all members of the U.S. armed services. Formerly known as Armistice Day, Veterans Day coincides with other holidays around the world, including Remembrance Day, marking the end of World War I on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month in 1918.

If you have a veteran, military or military-dependent identification, you can get free food, discounts and other deals on Veterans Day. According to USA Today , some offers may be limited to dine-in restaurants and/or require a Veteran ID Card or DD214 card; check locations before visiting to confirm availability and requirements.
