EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEVV) — A Dallas, Texas woman faces charges of fraud, theft, and other charges for attempting to cash fake checks in Evansville banks on Monday.

Evansville Police said 21-year-old Alecya Pollard drove from Texas to Evansville to take part in a scheme to cash the checks. Detectives were made aware of several suspects attempting to pass checks at various banks in Vanderburgh County. The checks were all written on accounts belonging to a resort in Ft Walton Beach, Florida.

After 1PM on Monday, Pollard entered a bank off North Saint Joseph Avenue to cash one of the alleged checks for close to five thousand dollars. According to police, she had already attempted to cash it at another bank and left when questioned.
